Passive Houses
A passive house is more than just an energy efficient house. The most important factors to be considered when building a passive house are:
- correct positioning of the building
- correct architectural design
- thermal envelope of minimum 40 cm
- appropriate doors and windows
- adequate air tightness
- ventilation by recuperation
- good choice of the heating system
- making rainwater useful
As a result energy consumption is very low (giving it a U-value of 0,10 W/m²) less than 0,10 kWh/m².
